I am spending my new years with my family close to Kobe and I have some time so I went for climbing at Kitayama-koen. Kitayama-koen or Kitayama Park is one of the first bouldering area in Japan and very famous. The rocks are granite and are like sharp sand stone. Super sharp!!! There are famous problems like Shogi Normal, Shogi Special, and Gung ho. "Shogi" by the way means Japanese Chess and the boulder itself looks just like Japanese Chess pieces. I sent this Shogi Normal (1 kyu, or V5-6) and thought was about V5 if you know the balancy stance. Other moves were not so difficult because super friction granite. Other problems were super cool with sandy paper surfaces... Top picture is Shogi Normal by Mo.
We bought a super nice oven called "Healsio". They say it is not a microwave but it uses a vaporizing energy. So for Christmas cake I made one with Healsio. The sponge area came out terrible or kind of hard. It has to be softer but oh well... Other than that it was all great. Overall taste was okay too.
Quick review about a climbing gym that I go to called PUMP 2. It is located in "Nakanoshima" in Kawasaki-shi. PUMP gym is a chain gym that are located several in Tokyo, Yokohama, and Osaka.
Good thing about PUMP 2 is, it is quite close to my house and has a high lead rope area. Ober high!! I haven't touched the lead area but there are some potentials. I am making some friends now:)
So I go to bouldering area. The bad part is there are no top out area. But other than that there are slap, overhang, slight overhang, face and cave. Many moves are technical and have many different types of moves such as combination of slopers and crimpers. Don't worry there are several dynos:)
My third day of this deadly problem "Dead End". I again could not finish this problem, FCUK!!! "Dead End" is 1 kyu grade but it is rated as about V5 - V6. I think "Ninja Gaeshi" is about V5 and "Dead End" is about V6. "Dead End" is difficult because 1) releasing the toe hook is very difficult 2) very reachy pocket 3) crimps are terrible and can have many different moves. I figured the moves so I will try hard next time.
(This is not my video!! I posted because I would like to try this sequence.)
